Currently, I am using sera GH liquid tester. But it seem not to be working. It always show yellow color regardless of how many drops I have put inside.

From the manual it suppose to turn from red to green. But it is not happening.

Shake the reagent bottle well before use as it may settle over time.

After each drop of reagent that you drop into your test bottle/ give it a quick shake.
For me, i know my GH is roughly 8, so i start shaking after 5 drops.

Most brands should be good enough. I'm using API

Gh test kit expires quite fast compared to other test kits. better check expiry date before you buy. My sera GH test kit last around 8 month ( from the day i open the fresh bottle)

    Thanks for the advise.

I had pour a few dose of Seachem Replenish into my tank. Somehow the GH test kit show slight color change to greenish yellow. Maybe my tank water really have no GH.

Are you using RO/DI water in the tank?

I see... i guess although its possible for tap water in some parts of Singapore to also show 0-1 GH (which would in turn also influence the tank water GH too), it looks like you'll just have to use another brand of GH Test Kit to double-check the results.

Noted. Thanks. I try to find other brand but the packaging like very old and dusty and no expire date. I bought another sera GH test kit and let see what happen.

actually, we can find out GH of tap water in rough estimate by reading the pool water testing report in the estate/condo etc. Every pool must have water tested weekly and the report outlines detailed water param.

Thats interesting... but wouldn't the pool water parameters be affected by rain water, various pool filtration processes and water treatment chemicals/disinfectants?

Re: Recommend a good brand of GH tester.

I tested today with a small tub of tap water and then I add one cap full of seachem replenish.

I use a sera GH test kit, it show the color changes to brown but the number of drop to 21 and it did not change to green. I use a TDS meter to test it, it show no number.

Later, I change to another batch of new water. Put one mark of the cap of seachem replenish. The GH test kit show it change from brown to green at about 12 drops.

I guess the test kit work but my tap water is zero on GH. IMHO.
