    Hi,

I know I have seen this discussion somewhere before and I have tried searching the topics but I could not find it...I think by the time I found it, the snail may have eaten their fullest and the plant may be botak liao..so to save them asap, I seek your advise on how to get rid of the snail...I notice I got rid of them by removing them, change of water, etc but after sometime, they re-appears..any fish which is mild enough to stay togather with tetras, guppies eat this 'french' delicacy and where can i buy them...thanks in advance for all the comments..

    Hi All,

    Updates...
went to buy anti snail lotion but upon closer instruction, read that they only temporary knock out the snails, then you must remove them..very troublesome..spent around S$8+ for it..
so finally went to buy 1 puffer fish...
Seems like he is doing his job but now I got a question, when he has 'makan' all the snails, what will he eat?
I noticed that when I feed my other fishes with flakes and bits, he see and look but no action, can someone advise me what can I feed him?
It will be great if my tetras, guppies will eat this food too, thanks.

Puffers will only eat live food. Feed it tubifex or blood worms.

I usually discourage people from buying puffers unless they are prepared to feed live food to them daily.

bad news, my puffer couldnt make it.it has died...
I am now seriously thinking of getting the bardi but hve few questions:
    1) How does it look like? searh the web but cannot find, any picture or photos
    2) Are they community fish, can get along with tetras, etc
    3) Other than gratiola which is out of the way for me, where else can I buy?

I will appreciate if you guys can advise me, thanks.

Will the badis go after the 'good' horn snails and even the bigger zebra snails?

I have Badi badis and ramshorn snails living happily together in my tanks. I doubt they are good for snail control.

I have tried using ghost shrimps to get rid of my snails before. Over time, the population is under control. And not totally wiped out. Snails help to eat dead and dying plant parts.

Above pics show the shrimp gourging out the flesh for a good meal.

This is new info to me. So ghost shrimp helps to reduce the snail population. Any idea if they will go after baby cherries and malayans? I have snails in a shrimp only tank and do manual removal or crushing of snails every couple of days or so. Can't put any fish or puffer to eradicate them.

    thanks

All shrimps are scavengers. They will eat ANYTHING they can lay their claws on if they are hungry enough.

Why don't you crash the shell slightly of the snails and drop back into the tank?

All fishes will go after those 'snails'. The only reason why the fishes are not attacking the snails now is that they can't crush the shells to get the flesh out. Once they are crashed, my tetras swamp them, eating them whole.

No badis badis or puffer required. Live food everyday for your fauna.
