    Hi

Anyone knows where to get or how to get JBJ lighting ballast repaired?

    I got a 3ft 4x36W light set with 2 switches.
This morning went on one of them and "pop" sound, one row (2x36W) not working liao, should be the ballast.

Anyone got experience on this? think the ballast is concealed. Will try to remove the casing for the ballast, but where to get replacement?

Pls help as I just set up my tank, worried that the lighting is insufficient for the plants.

    Thanks

Try Nature Aquarium, it's the only one I know of that repairs ballasts.

Try checking the tubes first. They may wired in series. I know some FL are, not sure whether they do the same for PL. No harm just switching the tubes around to check if it is really the ballast is blown or it is just the tubes.

repairing a ballast may be tough. most likely, you’ll have to replace it if it is found to be faulty. you can consider nature aquarium or maybe some electrical shops.
if you know electricity, you can change the ballast yourself. just get a replacement ballast with equal or greater power ratings.

Also check around to see if wires have loosen, including the ones for the switches. To confirm if ballast has blown, can swap their positions.

I'm not sure how your 3 ft looks like but for my 2 ft JBJ, I need to slide out the back casing. You can peel off the faulty ballast as it has been glued to the casing. You can get the ballast from NA, the brand Elbiru. Quite easy to wire up as the ballast itself has the simple wiring diagram printed on it. Just follow it. To stick your new ballast, get a 3M brand double sided tape. The one with a higher securing strength. I did mine 3 years ago and still working fine.

    Good luck.
