    Hi guys,

Does anyone know what this plant is? Found this at C328, it's very interesting. Emerged form seems to have top green back red.

    Thanks

Like Xiaozhuang mention,it is not aquatic.
It is Selaginella erythropus ‘Sanguinea’ aka Ruby Red Spikemoss.

Hmm you could research online before purchase, instead of buying right away

Usually i do if the label the plants. Like Sea View, they label the plants - the pricier one ($3 and above) but let alone the name itself is so hard to pronounce the scribbled words is hard to decipher. I don't know about the rest but for me as a newbie, it was really a challenge.

When i reach home later, i will have to pull the plant with shame hahaha

Unfortunately it is difficult to search online especially if you don't even know the name to begin with. My rule of thumb is if the plant stiff, don't buy, very likely it is non aquatic.

I am not bashing MystikBoy here but for some of us, it is a little hard to resist not buying a pretty plant.

We can all head down to the LFS with a very specific list of aquatic plants to get but we tend to deviate when we see something prettier that caught our eyes. Unforunately, some of us can get easily distrac OH SQUIRREL!

Haha no worries. For me, I will either browse, then go home and search online or with my books, or sometimes I will use my phone on the spot. I'll research especially if I am doubtful about the plant.

That may not work because some of the plant was grown emerge, and emerge leaf all have wax on it.

    Re: Plant ID, interesting plant

most of my plants are from Mizuworld beacuse they provide the name and rquiremnets some with pictures, if not just google.
My kakis are mainly predator fish keepers so when i go hunt for plants they won't have a clue either . It's really a gamble sometimes. The common plants i can confirm but the strange unfamiliar ones are the one that attracts me hahaha

Oh well i shall take this experience with a pinch of salt and learn, we all have to learn and begin somewhere and mine starts from this experience

    Re: Plant ID, interesting plant

Grown this before as well. after picking it up unwittingly at Seaview.
No name was scribbled on it, and just took the chance..

Over period of a few weeks, it did developed roots system.
The redness under the leaves remained vibrant, but was curled down.
It did not grow any bigger, but maybe I didn't give it enough time before I re-scaped again.
I was running on CO2 but no chiller..

    hope this helps.
