It probably one of the cryptocoryne species,
crypt balansae maybe, balansae have rough texture on the leaves.

Looking at the 2nd photo closely, i can sew bamboo-like stems. I'm also puzzled about it too.

hmm but after doing a little goolge on crypt balansae, the leaves seemed to be uneven and bumpy. the one i had is rather smooth, filmy and soft.

Yes,from the pic it is smooth like vallisnera.
Check the root system is it propagate by runners or rhizome?

i doubt its a crypt hmmm. the stem has a very interesting bamboo-like pattern where the leaves sprout from the nodes

currently its still a stem cutting (as bought from the lfs), no visible roots or rhizomes yet. guess have no choice but to wait and see if it roots successfully and monitor its growth habit/characteristics

by the way, thanks everyone for the efforts in helping me to identify this unknown plant haha

Yeah, that looks like it... has the segmented bamboo-like stems with long leaves characteristic too!

That'll be a nice plant for backgrounds.
