Hi everyone, am wondering if any of you have grown eleocharis acicularis "mini", specifically the one stocked by Tropica (click for link). Am eager to try it out as a carpet plant, but ideally do not want to trim it regularly. Thanks!

If this is the same eleocharis sp mini by Tropical thats found locally, it would be minimal maintenance. UA did a carpet with it and I believe he mentioned along the line that this plant requires minimal maintenance. I'm also tempted to use this instead of HC or Monte Carlo.

Yeah, you can have a look through my tank journal thread for some reference on its growth pattern and growth rate. The carpet was created from 1 cup of Tropica 1-2-Grow Eleocharis sp. 'Mini'.

Over the 15+ months that the scape was in operation, i didn't need to trim the carpet at all, it stayed consistently short and compact throughout that time.

Thank you so much! Will use this then. Where is the best place to buy them?

Best to get from Fishy Business, they are the distributor and keep their Tropica 1-2-Grow cups in a refrigerator, so the plants are generally in fresher and healthier condition.
