Anyone using or considered using Belkin WEMO Switch (or similar) as timer for your tank?
    http://www.belkin.com/sg/IWCatProduc...duct_Id=679500

Please share your experience or considerations? Are there any other similar products?

Also came across the Taikong Flexi-plug recently, but looks like it is currently limited to flat 2 pin. http://www.taikong-aqua.com/product_...id=229&lang=en

Flexi-plug seems to be touted/designed for tank hardware automation, but WEMO should be able to perform the basics tasks. Flexi-plug is Bluetooth, so no need home wifi.

Looks cool. But a digital timer would do almost the same thing at probably half to one third the price.

I saw something similar in one of the US home Design program last year, very cool.

I've seen one that is similar to the Belkin WeMo (I think its about S$109 at Courts) but at a fraction of the price.

Refer to this Singapore based vendor. I think its $35 per peice. Can SMS or PM him to purchase.
Controllable when you are outside the home, simple interface for multiple settings via mobile phone & PC.
I'm not affiliated with them. Just sharing an interesting product.

I use the WEMOs at home for my tanks. Works well and if you're not at home and need to turn something on or off, you can.

I use TP-Link several months now. No problems so far. I like the App, quite use friendly.

One important criteria to look out for is that the programming is retained in the timer and not dependant on the server or the app. So that it continues to work when internet connection drops.

There is a WiFi smart power strip which has individually timer controlled socket. Let me go find the link. I haven't used it myself, but a few hobbyists use it but and they are satisfied with it.

thanks, bought TP-LINK smart plug from challenger just now to be used with PH controller (to limit the CO2 solenoid to turn on only during light hours) and so far ok working fine and it can resume the schedule after syncing up with the wifi router (PH controller will turn on and off the smart plug many times)

Re: Remote controlled timers like Belkin WEMO and Taikong Flexi-Plug

sigh, just found that if the plug is turned on by the PH controller (e.g. 10:30pm) and missed the event to turn off (e.g. 10pm), it will continue to be on until the next event. Maybe have to use the plug on the PH controller power plug instead but I heard turning on and off the ph controller is not good as need to calibrate more often
