Hi all, i know that adding some salt into the tank can help to sterilise the water so as to prevent any outbreak of diesease. So is it advisble for me to add some into the tropical tank? And how much is enough?

If you keep up with your regular maintenance and there's nothing wrong with the tank, I personally don't see a need in adding salt.

FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.

If your tank is a planted tank, it best not to do this.....preventive dosage can take its toll on some plants....

The plants will do the sterilising for you. They are much much better at it than salt and other medications.

As far as I know, salt is very effective in treating white spots. Yes, plants don't like too much salt.
