I have a glass bowl with cherry shrimp and lots of shrimplets. Recently a green film has grown on the glass and i have trouble scrapping it off (the babies get in the way of the sponge).

Is this algae? How can we get rid of it without hurting the shrimplets?

    Thank you!

Looks like the normal green algae film that coats tank glass... just use a sponge and scrub it out manually (if its green spot algae then you may need to put in more effort to scrub them out). Shrimps and shrimplets will naturally move/jump away from the surfaces when you are cleaning them.

Btw, whats the shape of the glass bowl? Looks like its got some curved design.

Interesting design... yeah, you'll have to put some elbow grease into scrubbing out the green algae, especially from the areas with textured glass surfaces.

Alternatively, you could just allow the green algae to grow on the glass "mountains", eventually it will look like a green coating/carpet and your shrimps will enjoy grazing on it.

For my tank, if I see that, it would mean my tank's phosphate is getting too low.
