    Hi all!

First of all, sorry for posting 2 questions in a single thread earlier .

And thanks for all the help that you guys have given, especially |squee|.

Finally have my 2ft tank running with a 2lt co2 cylinder, 36watt lamp and internal power filter.

    Tank have:
8 species of plants. (only know 2, tai yang chow and glosso)
    5 black neon
    2 red platies
    1 sae
    5 yamato shrimps

Was wondering wat brands of medication are recommended? I am thinking of putting some ick solution into the tank everytime i change the water as a precaution since ick is very common especially since i am still cycling the tank...

    Hey genes,

    Congrats on your tank

wf7850 is right, take out the fishes if they have ick and medicate them in a seperate tank.

When your tank has matured, dieseases shouldn'nt be a problem. Plants act as the anti-biotics and your fish should seldom get sick.

i am using PMDD mixture with Iron Trace and Secheam Comprehensive... the earlier two after weekly 20% water change during weekends and the 10ml of the latter mid week.... that's my dosing frequency.... things have been quite smooth sailing....

    You can try this:

Calculate the amount of that solution you need to add to your tank. Overdose a little.

Divide the calculated amount into 3, and dose one part on alternate days of the week. For example, dose on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Saturday is your water change. This evens out the sudden increase in ferts when dosing all at one go ( my belief actually ).
