    My Tank Size:
    45cmx33cmx45cm
    It's on the tall side.

I am keeping 1 pair of apisto.

I am looking for mix schooling fishes for both upper and middle tier of the tank.
Also suggest to me how much of the species should I add.

Green neon tetra (Paracheirodon simulans) would look nice in your tank, they school in groups at times (usually staying in the mid-level of the tank) and stay small at up to 3cm in size so they will fit your 45cm tank length better. The larger tetras would tend to look abit cramped when they try to swim left and right in a narrow tank, those look better in 2ft length or larger tanks.

The other fishes you could consider for top level swimmers are Boraras brigittae (or any of the other boraras species), they usually hang around the upper water levels during the day looking for food. Not really schooling fishes (mainly hang around in small groups), but they also stay small at around 2+ cm, so are suitable for narrower tanks.

10-15 of each group of fishes would be good, that will be 20-30 small fishes along with your pair of apistos. That keeps the bio-load moderate while still creating movement and variety in the tank.

10-12 small lampeye killi would be good for top-mid level of the tank, their eyes are very attractive with blueish bright lamp

    size about 2 to 2.5cm
