Can Scarlet Badis coexist with a school of tetras. For example amber or cardinal tetras? Are they from the cichlid family? Which LFS sells the female?

    TIA

Yes, they can be kept with tetras. Badis usually stay around the lower levels of the tank hunting tiny critters.

Females are abit more rare because most LFS tend to only sell the males which have a much brighter color, but sometimes there might be a few females mixed in the tanks so you just have to keep a look out for them (they are smaller and alot more pale in color).

Note that if you have shrimps in the same tank, they are expert micro-predators and will snack on most of the shrimplets.
