    Hi all,

I just dose Mosura PH down into my shrimp tank. I notice that all my shrimp is jumping around for a while. After 15 min later, i lose 3 RCS. My shrimp tank has CRS and RCS too. The rest of my shrimp is ok. I am wondering what causes it?

    Shrimp tank Result
    Temperature - 24~25 degree
    Ammonia -0
    NO3 - Nitrate test-10
    NO2 - Nitrite test-0
    GH - General Hardness/ Total Hardness test-7
    KH - Carbonate Harness test-10
    pH - Acidic / Alkalinity test-6.4
    CL - Chlorine test-0

hi maybe the sudden change of ph could have cause the death of the shrimps. Did you dose a lot of the ph down one shot?

Sad la. Come back from work. First time I saw my water damn cloudy. All my shrimp dead, a lot of plantaria or parasite also crawl up. I saw my ammonia alert 0. I try to save by WC 40%. End up all dead. Sigh !

    Re: Mosura PH down

The thing with Mosura pH Down is it doesn't indicate a recommended dosage based on water volume or conditions, so its all based on trial and error, therefore you have to dose it very lightly in stages to gradually reduce the pH levels in small increments... i'm guessing your two scoops of the powder is probably way too much for the tank volume and it crashed the pH.

Perhaps next time try to use alot less dosage, like only 1/4 scoop each time and add each dose over the course of a few days, and every day check the pH to make sure its stable. Even better if you can get those drip barrels and slowly dispense each dosage mixture in drops over the course of a day.

A better alternative would be to use natural pH lowering items like ketapang leaves or alder cones, those will reduce the pH gradually and naturally without causing undue stress to the shrimps.

    Re: Mosura PH down

I use Mosura pH Down for my age water. The instruction say that you should fill up a container of water and dose one tea spoon of Mosura pH Down into it. Stir well, and dose a little bit into the tank and wait for an hour or two then test the pH of the tank water. If I remember correctly.

    Re: Mosura PH down

Changing of the PH values should be done very slowly. Why did you decide to lower your PH? What was the PH before you lowered it? Cherries prefer PH closer to 7. Just curious, did you measure your water parameters after you discovered that all your shrimps were dead?
