Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to keep shrimps such as cherry/yamato/malayan (typically algae crew) along with crayfish in a 5 gallon tank. Will my crayfish go on a rampage and eat the shrimps or can they live happily with each other?
Crayfish will destroy everything. Best is to get Mexican dwarf crayfish. I have no problem with my planted 2Ft tank, 5 dwarf crayfish, 10 yamato, 20 rcs and other fishes like oto, SAE etc. see my other thread discuss abt CPO. My CPO is generally quite shy.

From what I heard he Mexican ones are more fierce than the normal CPOs maybe that's why your shrimps died?
I got 1 x 2ft and 1 x 1.5ft low profile. My CPO not aggressive at all, maybe I provide of a lot of shether for there.

Wow, your tank has a lot of gadgets compared to mine 😂
Suggest you get the mini dwarf crayfish like Dscheng's. The regular ones will attempt to destroy everything and high change your shrimps will go into hiding and rarely if ever come out.
The mini ones though if well fed, should rarely disturb the rest of your fauna unless if those said fauna are sick or dying.
I will keep that advice in mind 😁
