Guys, I need help 2 id an insect I found in my filter. Found 2 when I was cleaning my filter. It has 6 feet n a long tail. When I picked it up using my thumb, this little critter stand up n raised it's tail just like a scorpion tail! 2day however, I saw 1 in my tank. Wat could it be? Would it pose a threat 2 my plants n fishes?

If it really is a dragonfly nymph isn't that also a type of food for your fishes if you do rear big fish.

I've seen those insects u discribe but it's on land not in the filter it is only about 2-3cm in size.
    Cheers!

DEA, sorry no digital camera. I believe it could be the dragonfly nymph. The one I saw in my tank is brown color n has 3 tail. Could it be it?

    not very sure
i read about this a long long time ago
if you have small fish it's perhaps best to remove the insect

hmm yes i suppose it is a dragonfly nymph, Beware of your tetra they might hunt them down, i think you got them when u purchase your plants and the eggs of the dragonfly went into youe skimmer into your filter. You were luckly for that if they were in the tank they will feast upon your fishes.
    Cheers!

But I need to flush out this bugger out from the plants. Once they went in a clump of red plants that I have, very hard 2 see it. I think I will stop feeding my fish. Maybe, the hungry fishes might go after it.

Hey BFG, so you found back your lost tiger force? How big is your tank, sounds like a lot of bioload.

Hwchoy, my tank is 3ftx1.5ftx2ft lxbxh. Some of the fish I choose but some my father bought without my consent! Wat to do? Told him about bio-load n he says the fishes need bubbles. Haiyah, I just grit my teeth!

Just saw 1 of my tiger squad. Rest is missing. I might want 2 buy some more 4 reinforcement! Maybe with so much shrimp , the nymph might swim out into the open n be eaten by the bigger tetras.

Yup, he brought me up lah. No matter what can't go against him lah wait become a target 4 lightning rods! Furthermore the tank looks like rojak, now cannot enter any planted tank competition![] [] . Guys, sorry 4 the 'talk big attitude' but I can dream can't I. Maybe 30 more Tigers should flush this bugger out!
