The yamato shrimps rooted out quite a few of my HC cuba =(

Every other day i might have to use the pinsette to put them back in place. I guess the yamato is killing my HC cuba..

I guess i will have to buy somemore red cherry shrimps then...
NS pay not enough. Need to wait for the 10th...

Yeah, amano/yamato shrimps are excellent algae eaters but they are much larger than cherry shrimps (and hence much stronger), so they do tend to uproot smaller carpet plants like HC while foraging.

It's usually better to stock smaller shrimps with delicate carpet plants, less potential destruction.

If you are not too concerned about color/grading, you could just go for the bulk bags of cherry or malayan shrimps available at some of the popular LFS, they usually come in bags of 50pc for just S$10-$12, get an instant shrimp army at economical cost.

I agree with UA, if you don't mind colour then get bulk bags of 50 cherry shrimps. Pretty cheap, however I like my tank to look more lively, so I spend a bit more on fire red shrimps

The cherry shrimps that are packed in bulk bags at low prices are usually the lowest-grade transparent ones with no or very little color. Something like this:

In terms of algae eating ability, doesn't matter if the shrimps are low-grade or high-grade, they all do the same job. Just that the lower-grade ones are much cheaper to stock up in large numbers.

Just make sure to not mix those low-grade shrimps into the same tanks with higher-grade cherry shrimps (ie. fire reds or painted fire reds), that will tend to result in gradual degradation of color in future offsprings.

You can try C328, Y618 or Seaview. I went C328 on Friday night, there were many bags of bulk cherry shrimps. They probably just re-stocked

SO i did water changing @ 20% , trimmed some plants that I am able to, bought 7 Red Cherry shrimps cause the bulk shrimp don't have.

Do you think my tank is surviving the algae outbreak?

NO2 is now at 0mg/L (Light blue) and NH3/NH4 is still at around 0.25mg/L (Lightest green)

Well, algae will usually pop during the tank cycling period, its normal... eventually as the parameters stabilize and once your plants grow in more densely and start outcompeting the algae (along with the help of hardworking algae eaters), the amount of algae in the tank should gradually decrease over time.

Though do note that any bare hardscape (like those rocks in your tank) that are directly exposed to light will be a magnet for algae growth, so expect them to be covered in it... hopefully they get coated in those nice bright green fuzzy type of algae, consider it a natural decor for the aquascape.
