    Hi guys

I started a new tank about 2 weeks back. There are some algae on the leaves of plant. Can you please help to identify them?

    Thank you.

I am currently dosing 2 ml of lushgro aqua and 5ml of K2HPO4 (5g @250ml) daily. CO2 is provided and DC is yellow. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430753707.711967.jpg

I will be trimming the rotala macranda soon.

    Thank you

Re: What type of algae is this?

Looks like combination of filamentous algae, green spot algae and diatoms on the plants (and on all the hardscape too)... if your tank is fully cycled and the water parameters are stable, time to add in a team of algae crew:

    - Cherry, Malayan or Yamato shrimps
    - Otocinclus
    - Horned Nerite Snails
    - SAE

Each of those algae eaters will help clear the different types of algae for you.

It's still best if you can manually remove and scrape away as much as algae you can though, but at least the algae crew will make your job easier.
