Any brother here can suggest what kind of cichlids is suited to this tank? I am thinking a mix of mbuna and shellies or should I just stick to either one? I am completely new and won't be seeking expensive specimens. I just want something swimming inside this newly created rocky aquarium (60cm L x 30cm W X 45cm H). Thanks taking time to read here.

Can I mix white-spotted Duboisi to either of the above? I saw them in LFS, very pretty fish.

Duboisi are fishes that needs to stay in a colony which is around 8 to 12. 2 ft definitely cant do that. Maybe keeping demasoni or compressos is suitable

Demasoni looks cool. How many should I keep and how big will they grow? Besides, where can I buy multifasciatus shellies because I may just keep those and see them breed and mingle among the shells.

If you keeping demasoni can keep around 10 to 12, their max size is around 3 to 3.5inches, demasoni is aggressive fish not advise to keep with shellies bro.

Oh, I won't keep shellies with such agreesive fish. Can I keep demasoni with mbuna, though I think demasoni looks attractive as group. Where can I buy this species and how much do they cost? Sorry for all the questions because I am absolutely new to cichlids.

Demasoni is mbuna so you definitely can keep them together but 2 ft is small so you cant keep much as well.

Demasoni can be purchase from lfs, most would have like seaview or nks, i have some for letting go too, let me know if you need them.

Wow, you have so many Demasoni? Are they big? I am looking for an inch long specimen. I will be hunting for cichlids this weekend and haven't decided what to go into my tank. You selling or giving away I hardly see people sell different types of cichlids in AQ.

If you want a good range of shell dwellers, you can check out Neo Kim Suey aquarium beside Kovan MRT.

I am not a seasoned shellies collector, so no knowledge about collectible range. I find any fishes that used shell as their home looks kindof cute. Since I managed to put shells in my tank scape, I thought it might be good to find some fishes that love them....haha. Anyway, thanks for the lead, I will drop by NKS to c look c look what cichlids they have.

I got my stone from Y618. No coral, go for cheap tufa rocks to make it look like "reef" aquarium.

I wish too. Saw the shellies at C328 the arowana-named shop. But decided best not to have them because I heard shellies are "non-vegetarian" unlike my mbuna.

I see you have got shells in your tank suitable for a Tanganyikan Shellies setup.
Mind sharing where you bought it from?

    Thank you.
