Some of the strands are quite long which makes me wonder if this is indeed MC.
Can someone help to confirm if what I have purchased is indeed Monte Carlo.

Have to grow it submersed to tell for sure. I notice MC and HM have very similar emerse forms. Another sure way to tell is the price tag HM is alot cheaper than MC
Bought this mat at C328 for $5. Hopefully it is not HM.

No, I gave up asking her. Most of the time, she also don't know.

it could also be HC It is hard to tell without side by side comparison. Picture below was taken from C328, one is HC the other one is MC
Definitely not HC. I've just cleared my HC carpet. I'm planning to plant MC. Anyway, I bought a tub of MC from tropica just to be sure. Comparing the two, I really suspect the $5 one is HM. Lesson learned.

HM easily identify once grow emerge leaf.
uploadfromtaptalk1431834010221.jpg this is emersed HM for your comparison
Thanks Clamence for taking the trouble to share. A couple of months ago, I was looking for HM to plant but not experienced enough to recognize the emersed form. This time, I stumbled upon it when I'm looking for MC. Unfortunately, my Nano tank got no more area to plant. Still, a good education for $5. Sometimes I wish all plant suppliers to LFS label their produce.

Just bought some "MC" from c328 today, I do not know that difference between HM and MC. What is HM?
The correct name is Hemianthus Glomeratus (micranthemoides)

HM = Hemianthus Micranthemoides.
Some info on it: http://tropica.com/en/plants/plantdetails/4476/4476
Its emersed form when packaged at most LFS has small round leaves, so its commonly mistaken as HC or MC (it also tends to hitchhike in amongst those plants too).
