welcome to the forum! nice and interesting tank you have!
time to give your plants a nice haircut
Good Afternoon ...
Stumbled upon AQ yesterday while surfing the net. Glad to find an on-line local aquatic forum with useful, friendly advice and generous knowledge sharing contributors.
Not exactly new to this aquatic hobby but had laid off for a considerable period of time. However, recently, got myself infatuated with the colourful varieties of dwarf shrimps after viewing them at a LFS .. and here I go again.
My first time with shrimps keeping as well as a little venture into aquatic planting. Trying to keep it as simple as possible, low tech and cost saving ( Tis' one kinda hard ) and hence started with a small 10L tank.
Looking forward to learn more from this forum and should there come a time when I can share my 2cts worth, will try my best to contribute. Thanks in advance .... Cheers !

Welcome to AQ
Thanks Guys !
@ FireBlade ; its the roots of the floating plants that is rendering the photo an " overgrown " look.
I do somehow actually like the ways these roots sway about with the flow of the current and the shrimps seem to enjoy latching onto them.
The Java moss, those between the stones, were trimmed about 3 days ago but they are excellent growers ...
The ones I am eagerly waiting to trim are the Hair Grass, planted them about a week ago. Patiently waiting for them roots to have a firmer
grip onto the substrate before I dare to fiddle with them. Without the CO2 input, the rate of growth ain't that fast afterall.
Still learning as I go along and with the ongoing discussion here at AQ , hope to pick up a few tips from veterans on board.
@ Shadow ; Much to learn from a Master like you ... your blog site is an inspiration
Cheers !

Welcome to AQ.
What are those floating plants?
I liked long roots too, but can't figure out which floating plants have that.

Thanks Guys !
@14litre ; Sorry ... did not get the name for it. Saw these plentiful hovering in tanks' of LFS, AQUATIC AVE, when I paid them a visit. Got some from them and they are doing very well. The lovely thing about these plants is that they seem to have a waxy leaf surface which water doesn't stay put and they always appear dry w a waxy look. I do have another species of floating plants ( again I do not know what its called ) ... these are smaller petals, roots are shorter and does get wet look.

the floating plants looks like frog bits to me...
@ 14litre ; As requested. Veterans within should be able to assist.
Cheers !
Thank you so much.
Oh! Looks like its salvania natan (if I had the name spelt correctly).
I do have this plant in my tank.
Initially the leaves were huge when I bought from LFS. Over the time, the leaves get smaller. Right now it is almost half the size of a 1 cent coin. The roots did not reach that long. At most it is about 1-2 inches long. Looks like there could be some nutrient deficiency in my tank. I will research on that.
Thank you once again for the prompt replies and photos. Cheers.
