Looks like a really comfy home for them Is it also supposed to be a path style aquascape?
Good morning all ,
I stumbled upon a chance getting a pair of Betta Macrostoma "Brunei beauty" directly from Brunei . Doing a simple research it's difficult to export Betta Macrostoma from Brunei as its a protected species in the country .
Most of the Betta Macrostoma in the market are from Sarawak which is near to Brunei border , illegal catching of Betta Macrostoma in Brunei forest for profit is quite rampant , causing it's wild population to dwindle in a very fast pace .
Keeping this beautiful Betta will need some hardwork, purpose of me starting out this thread is to keep track of my work and progress and sharing my first hand experience with fellow hobbyist who is interested in keeping Betta Macrostoma .
Here's a picture of my rush setup for them scaping and setting up is all done within 2 hours .
Ideal water parameter require for them
Ph 5-6.5 (Macrostoma prefer acidic water)
Temperature range 22-26 (higher temperature 28celcius they can survive but they will not strive in that temperature )
Some of the item I have used
Soil - benibachi fluvic
Soil- Ada Africana
Bacteria
Roots
Hang on back filter with ceramic ring
Something interesting to share I was told that Azoo 4-1 media buffer ph level , ranging from 6.8-7.2 . Which is why I gave up using that media .
The following picture I've attach is my setup for them .

Basically I choose to go this path is to enjoy the view of Aquascape , also to provide them ample hiding space to make them feel comfortable .

they are great jumper
Thanks fhan for the nice commend appreciated . Was a rush project as I have been housing them in a small temporary tank for more than a week since I got them from my brunei friend when they came over for aquarama .
