Has anyone got experience with AL60 or AL30 minichiller?
I plan to get one for my 1.5 ft (45x27x30; 35L) for crs (room temp 29-30oC; desired temp 26oC)
Due to space constrain and noise level, I'll be going with TEM rather than the compressor type.
How long does it take to cool my tank to the desired temp using AL60? How often it kicks-in and also how about power consumption?

You can refer to East Ocean site where they did the cooling time study, it will answer most of your questions.

Thank Jimmy, I read the site before. They have tested only AL30 on 27L tank and the cooling time is not fantastic. My tank is slightly bigger, so I think AL60 is better. However, it seems like noone's using AL60, since I cannot get any useful info on the internet.

Yup, TEM efficiency is not fantastic anyway. I prefer to go for refrigerant chiller for much better efficiency but since you have constraints, it's a give and take situation. Maybe you would want to check with East Ocean for more details if you can't get it online.

    Re: TEM minichiller

Hi Jimmy, I used the AL60 before on my 60X30X36 filled up to about 60liters some time back. Vaguely recalled that it took slightly about 4hours (longer during photoperiod) to chill to 25°C, but I can't recall how often it kicked it. I set it to kick in at 27°C by the way. I also recalled that it can't go down any lower than 24.7°C (actual temperature not the probe, probe was off by about 0.8°C)

Similarly I had space constraints as well but due to same reasons as what Jimmy pointed out, I've since upgraded to a Teco nano chiller.

Thank HBK16, it seems like AL60 can fit well with my 1.5ft tank. I may set it 25-26oC.

The inlet and outlet of AL-60 doesnt fit with my filter (9mm vs 13mm). Anyone know where can I find an adapter so that I dont have to add another water pump in the tank.

Hi uglyduckling, any updates on the chiller? I'm considering to get one for my 45cm tank too. Did u get the AL 30 or 60 and how did it work out for you?
