Just use a scissors and trim them to shape (like performing a haircut), then net out all the cut bits.
Btw, the moss in your photo doesn't seem to look like fissidens, maybe its some other type of moss?

i see, so do you think i should do some trimming now? how do i know when i need to trim before the base will stop receiving enough light and yellow?
I am not too sure myself, i bought this driftwood along with the moss from brokermit13sg here (http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...highlight=full). He mentioned in post #7 that it is US mini fissiden.
They look okay... though you could still trim them to create a neater look. Its usually when you find that they get abit messy and long, or the denser lower parts start to yellow due to lack of light, then it's time to trim.
Its growth pattern and frond shape seems different from fissidens, maybe take a close-up photo for more positive ID.

Yeah, thats not fissidens... looks like its either java moss or christmas moss.
Fissidens have feathery fronds, some reference: http://www.aquamoss.net/Fissidens-fo...s-fontanus.htm
Whereas you compare it with java moss: http://www.aquamoss.net/Java-Moss/Java-Moss.htm
Or christmas moss: http://www.aquamoss.net/Christmas-Mo...stmas-Moss.htm
