I think it's possible to use stone slaps.
Or if you can find flat types of driftwood, it will do too.
Your glass thickness also plays a part in safety aspect especially when using rocks.

Hi all
Can anyone here teach me how to create this effect as seen here in this pict (pict taken from vvswong gallery profile from arofanatics)
When driftwoods or stones are used to stack up...will i need to cover any gaps inbetween so that fishes dun get stucked in them?
Is there lighter materials to use other then rocks or driftwoods coz am afraid the tank might not take the weight to achieve the effect...

I just got a crazy idea...what about using ceramic rings wrapped in the nylon net (net used for the riccia meshes)?
Well...i was thinking...
Pour the rings into the net and secure both ends of the net, shaped it to required shape, then put the riccia on it and wrap another layer of nylon net over to secure the riccia!!!
The ceramic rings seems to be lighter i think...and you can shape the bag of rings into various shapes? And it also serves as a place for the BB!!!
hmmm....
you can terrece with perspecs sheets...
If your using ceremic rings, you will get unique and shapes that you want.
But it is also easier for the shape to be off easily as it does not form a definate shape.

Amano uses riccia stones to create the effect. Riccia is tied on these stones and place on the surface to create the hilly effect
riccia stones as in those rounded egg shaped stones and stack them up?

nope, riccia stones is one of ADA product, seen it at some places like plantas once. its flat..
It's a flat squarish tile, sort of like mini concrete slabs.
Perhaps sloping the gravel alot will help too.
