Are they growing out of the cage?
I originally posted this in the introduction column. Readings but no responses. I have attempted to grow the liverwort type plant Monosolenium t. upon the recommendation of a shop owner and lack of Java Moss at the moment. I sought to have a shelter for small fathead minnows to graze away from the more efficient native shiners and white clouds in an unheated tank. It is a 15 gal. tank with a 125 gph hank on back filter where I do a 5 gal. water change and substrate cleaning weekly. It has an 18" T8 18" full spectrum light with occasional real light from a window at it's back. An unruly plant I contained it in an aluminum cage and this is my success in 4 months.
It neither dies nor grows, fast anyway. Any suggestions regarding this plant as to my rearing would be appreciated.

Are they growing out of the cage?
Hi Ingen, and thank you,
Yes, but slowly. Some loose I gathered in a plastic plant and it grows the same, slowly. The best is a bunch in a small glass canning jar in my window sill. Puzzling plant!

How goes it now?
Hello!
It has grown much, well, relatively. It is in it's cage but is now large enough to break off pieces that move about the tank. The roots have grabbed the gravel underneath I see when I lift it on occasion to vacuum under, which I really don't do often, preferring to blow the cage with a turkey baster. Only platys and white clouds now, with a sponge filter rather than the air stone. Lots of growth from guppy grass, java fern, and some pennywort.
