    Hi,

Can someone help to identify the 2 plants, the one in red and the one behind the red plants?

The red plant is Ammannia praetermissa - it requires a lot light to grow well in the tank. The green plant is a Myriophyllum, not sure which species though, but most of them are easy to grow.

Thanks Xiaozhuang and Zerofighter! I was actually googling around and thought that the red plant was Rotala SP Colorata. Now that I see Ammannia family photos, you are right! I just found out another posting which you replied as well.

Just an update for future reference, upon looking closely, the green plant is Cabomba Aquatica.

Most definitely not. Cabomba has an obvious petiole structure which is lacking, and usually has 2/3 petiole per internode...

Hi xiaozhuang, here are some more pics. I feel its cabomba as the "width". See this page and they look similar.

    cabomba.jpg

Cabombas have a very specific leaf structure; 2 leafs per node, and a petiole (google what this is), attached to the fan-like portion; which isn't present on your plant. Your plant is most likely Limnophila aquatica

    Re: I'D Plants

Hmm., it sure looks like Limnophila aquatica now. Somehow, the pics found in cabomba link i posted doesnt look like the plant structure that you posted. Maybe alot of others are equally mixed up with these plants.

    Re: I'D Plants

It's easy to get mixed up. Many aquatic plants change shape/color alot as well. A good data-base that is maintained by biologists and is more accurate is http://www.flowgrow.de/db/aquaticplants However, the pictures there aren't always the best. They have good links to other studies though
