Hi all, great that the forum is up again, so can bother you guys with some questions. haha

    Ok seriously.
Need some help with my DIY fans.

Doing everything the same as the instructions.

EXCEPT that i bought this Panasonic ISOLATING TRANSFORMER for $5 to use in place of the AC adaptor.
Should be an AC DC converter, cos bought it from the hardware shop near NA, the uncle says it is.
Cos I asked him for discount on the normal AC DC adpator, so he says this whole bunch was $5 each, thought at least branded so might as well give it a try.
Cos it looks like the kind those Ocean Free cooling fans use.

The Ocean free adaptor is on the left, my DIY unit is on the right.
    DIY unit says:
    INPUT: 230 - 240 V
    OUTPUT: 12V - 150mA

    Using 2 x GTG PC fans DC 12V 0.190A

But the fans don't seem to work.

Must I only use AC adaptors?
Or maybe its cos it doesn't match my fans?

    Appreciate any advise.

    Giant,

Your photo URL does not work... probably because of the ... in the middle of it. Anyway, AQ now allows attachment of images to the post. If you look under the text entry are, you can find the controls for attaching images.

Also look in the Helpdesk forum for a post about attaching pictures.

    1. Your DIY unit only outputs 150mA. Your fans require 0.190A or 190mA each. Your DIY unit does not provide enough power. You need an adaptor/convertor that outputs 150% of what you expect to use, to prevent overheating and wearing out. Your fans total about 0.4A, so you'll need to get an adaptor/convertor with output of at least 0.6A (600mA) or higher.

    2. Your fans are DC... so they need an AC-DC convertor.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    Thanks for your explanation Vinz.
    Electricity better not play play.
Will go look for the appropriate unit then.
