Re: how do you differentiate an endler and guppy apart ?

Purebred and hybrid endlers are always smaller than guppies, not to mention a endler's coloration and patterns(if purebred) are similar. Hybridized endlers may have different patterns but are still smaller than guppies.

Obviously, this picture is not mine- but you can see the purebred 'wild' endlers(N-Class)

Side Note: Endlers, unlike guppies, have different classes, N-Class being the purebred certified wild stock all the way to Class-K.

Well, not quite true what's been said overhere.
Yes, in general endlers are smaller than most fancy guppies. But there are also smaller fancy guppies and some larger endlers both wild and hybrid strains. So, size doesn't actually tell an endler from a guppy. And just be aware of it that under the right circumstances a lot of those female endlers (depending on the strain) can size up to equal sizes as female guppies.
And there are differences between the amount of dorsal fin rays between endlers (wild strains) and the amount of hooks on their gonopodiums of wild strain males in comparison to those of male guppies.

And even with wild strains those patterns of the same strain may differ a bit with each individual male. But the overall pattern should almost be similar with those wild strains.

Well, I'm sure about it that there are sufficient members overhere who are also able to help you out on your endler enthusiasm...

Re: how do you differentiate an endler and guppy apart ?

Unfortunately, I don't think we've reliably gotten any class N endlers in Singapore. Most of the endler strains in the LFS are just a mish-mash of different endler strains (if they are even purely endler strains at all). Many of what we see nowadays are hybrids between endlers and guppies. In fact, that's how many of the new patterns have come about on both sides of the equation.

As Stan has mentioned, size is not a reliable gauge (although it usually is when paired with its phenotype; at least in Singapore).. You would have to be fairly read up on the usual variants we get locally.
