    My first planted tank

So with my Week 9 update, this is how my tank looks like now.

Decided to just use one of the bogwood instead of 3. Too difficult to do a major rescape with my shrimps in it. I also bought some fissiden from James and tie on the wood.

Ya! They have it with the cabinet. Got my set from there. I have seen ANS tanks in that size at Seaview recently as well.

The prices at east ocean are pretty expensive.. But anyway I found white cabinets 2x1ft at seaview for $141 so that's what I'm getting!

I saw those as well but I don't think the quality is as good? Or are they the same?

    My first planted tank

    Week 17 Update

The CRS eggs were gone just before CNY period, and almost every day I spent some time looking around for shrimplets...

About a month had past and I actually had given up....thinking something must be wrong and the shrimplets cannot survive...

But just over the weekend, I spotted this:

Yes!! I saw the first shrimplet!! More and more are spotted!!

Some updated photo of my tank

    Everything seems well except:-
    1) the mistake I committed earlier for not quarantine the plants, now full of tiny snails.
    2) Spotted some tiny creatures, suspect those are seed shrimps.
    3) Still trying to balance my fert dozing as i'm experiencing GSA and my AR Mini not doing as well.

    My first planted tank

It is coming to week 25 tomorrow.

What had happened since last update?

    - Discovered seed shrimps in the tank, was introduced by AA a smaller version of pencil fish which is good clearing seed shrimps.

    - Removed one of the Rotala Species at the middle, because it does not grow densely...always has a hollow feel at that part.

    - Was given a glass pot, planted some Hydrocotyle Tripartita (Clover-Like plant) in it.

    - I was having a busy schedule last 2 months, seldom have much time to do trimming. The 3 plants behind had grown so dense and tall. (Forgot to take photo).
It took me 4 days (almost 1 hour each day) to finish trimming. See photo:

    (MC not trimmed yet)

    Qns:
My tank always become very messy after trimming the MC....The trimmed MC goes everywhere around the tank......

Can anyone share how do u trim the carpet plant and avoid a big mess?

    - I don't dose MgSO4 and NaHCO3 now
    - I dose the dry salt directly now (except KNO3 and Micro). Used to make KH2PO4 solution, but I realized the PO4 become 0ppm after a month when did a test.

    - I dose lean and dose daily, and this is the interval I am dosing. Kept a table so I won't forget what I dose the day before lol

*Credit to XiaoZhuang's YouTube video, I modified slightly to get minimum CRS casualty and breeding ok.

I think this is a great example that CRS can be kept well in a planted tank if you pay attention to their requirements ~

    Re: My first planted tank

    Just entered into week 31.

It had been very routine since last update, daily dose, trim, feed, wc...

More shrimplets appeared and don't know how I got a black baby CRS where all my CRS are red haha.

Everything was fine except I began to notice something....the stem are getting thinner and thinner for the new growth for my taller plants at the back....

Just few days back I saw that my Cabomba and Ludwigia Acruata stem is rotting near the soil surface...

Not sure is it because the top got too dense or Aquasoil losing its effect...

So decided to trim the top, pull out the bottom and re-plant them...hope it don't affect my CRS

Also took the chance to re-design, got some nice Rotala Bonsai from Jacky in AQ, moved my Ludwigia Acruata to the centre, a row of Cabomba at the back, and the 2 Rotala at the side.

    Hope things will get better
