    Re: My first planted tank

    Tomorrow will be Week 32

Just did WC and took some photos

    - Upgrade to Intense CO2 Solenoid Regulator

    - Decided to take the risk and slowly push my cabinet to the left so I can shift the chiller to the right side. The previous piping project really slows the flow rate, and by putting the chiller on the right side also make the whole setup much neater.

    - After the joint part of Up Aqua inline atomizer gave way a few times and almost flood my whole house, I changed to the Intense Inline Atomizer.
Also bought the intense bubble counter.

    - Discovered there not only 1 but 2 Black CRS

    - Berried Mama

    - Another Berried Mama

    Re: My first planted tank

    Week 40 update

After the last minor re-scape, I monitor and my CRS were not affected, still happily eating and there are new shrimplets.

Thus I decided to do a major re-scape.

My MC carpet got too thick, my S.Repen and AR mini new growth isn't very fresh in color...

I removed and sold away my centre piece of wood with fissiden, and remove the MC Carpet. Exactly like many gurus had warned, too thick carpet will cause the underneath to rot...removing the carpet was effortless because the roots is not attached to the soil anymore. I just peel it off like remove face mask.

    Replanted
    - MC
    - AR Mini
    - L.Acruata (The red portion)
    - Clover Plant in glass pot

    Heavily Trimmed
    - S.Repen
    - Cabomba

Bought 2 piece of wood for the new look and tied some fissiden which I cultured along the way.

The water did turned very chalky and lasted a day. I was worried for my CRS, but lucky over the weeks, only 2 casualty.

    Photo as of Week 40

    Dinner time

Question: I have problem to let one of the wood to sink...it is almost 4 weeks, but it is still floating, is there such wood that cannot be sinked?

Good to see the Rotala bonsai growing well bro! Your tank will be a beautiful very soon once the plants mature!

The Four Leaf Clover will be change to submerged leave form if they are totally under water, I guess.

Finally decide to get a light hanging kit to raise the light higher to solve the issue of plants at the side bending towards centre

    Re: My first planted tank

Today is week 47 since I first started this tank. I was going through the past post I made and I realised my scape had changed a lot since then haha.

Anyway, over the last 3 weeks, I had gathered some new plants from Bro Liannnnn and Zep.

Made some re-arrangements and now my tank looks more colorful .

MC also carpeted well. This round I'm going to trim it more regularly to maintain just a thin layer.

Hope eventually this new scape will turns out better than this photo shown below:

    Re: My first planted tank

Time flies, more than a year had past since i startup this tank. Here are some photos since last updated

This was taken on 8 Oct 2016

    Taken 1 Nov 2016

Taken 19 Dec 2016 (I forgot to take the frontal shot before I trim them )

Added some new members. 9months ago I tried Blue Bolt, but didn't last long...some "Golden version" of shrimplets was given birth in my tank, also didn't last (probably due to my change in fert dosage that time)...Hope these Black King Kong can last and breed.

Also added these cute members, Habrosus Cory, to add liveliness

Photo taken after my recent trimming

Are they producing offspring fast in such a planted tank? Or they just get berried often but you can't seem to find the fry haha

I'm very sure the reproduction rate will be much slower compared to a shrimp only tank. Furthermore with so much plants, it is not easy to catch sight of he baby, not to say take a good photo of it haha.

However, they are really sensitive creatures, at times when I amend the fertilizer dosage or CO2 rate, or during filter washing and maintenance or massive replanting, some of the smaller ones will just "disappear".

I am consider lucky that I do not need to top up any shrimp for the last 1 year

Here are some photos of the shrimplets I took previously:
