After many years –*looking to start up again

Hi,

After more than ten years, I'm looking to start up the hobby again. I used to keep Rift Valley cichlids when I lived in an area with very hard tap water. With the soft water here, I'm thinking of Apistogramma...

I have a question right away: I'm looking around for an aquarium to buy, and have come across a company called Fordson – they advertise a lot on stclassifieds, and said they could do a 4'x1.5'x1.5' tank in 8-mm glass with eurobracing for 170, which seems like a good deal. Has anybody had any experience with this company before? Unfortunately they don't have a physical location you can visit to see their work, which makes me a bit hesitant. Else I'll keep my eyes open for a good second-hand deal – don't want to break the bank, and since it's already been 10 years I might as well wait for a few extra weeks!

Perhaps you can check with other aquarium tank and cabinet makers like CR Aquarium and N30, many of us here have custom made our tanks and cabinets with them (and they have office/showrooms to visit).

Hi, for 4 feet at 170sgd is good deal but now the market is different, now they have different kind of glass type like crystal glass and so on...so do take your time to see which one you prefer.
I think during your time they probably use PL lights, now LED is in. You also need to consider what kind of set up you are doing? As for custom tank the link above that UA post are the best here so
far in workmanship and customer service.
