    just a question... when you cure a driftwood by boiling it with hot water.... after boiling it can the driftwood sink straightaway or will it still float.... any experience... cause my irritating driftwood keep floating up....

    depends alot on the type of wood, wood often used as such bogwood will guarantee sink, driftwood depends, mangrove root/wood tend to float and stay afloat for a period of time. If your wood isn't sinking then perhaps you can use some stones/rocks to weight it down till it completely sink.

    Boiling helps expand internally releasing air trapped within the wood.

    For my case it take 2 to 4 weeks.
    Weighing down with stone is what I normally practice.

    the size of the wood will varies the time required. I once weighted down a mangrove root for almost 2 months. If the wood can fit into a pail, I suggest keeping it submerged under hot water for at least a week
