Amazed by JBL Symec filter wool

Hi guys,

Just to share my experience. I had been using the cheap china brand of filter wool that comes in pieces and you have to cut to shape and install them nicely into your canister filter where there usually will be gaps in between. Maybe I'm slow sorry but lately I was introduced to a better filter wool (Don't know about other brands) which is JBL symec filter wool. Heard from the shop owner that people used it mainly for marine tanks, but well anything that can handle marine sure can handle planted so I bought it. Maaaan.... I'm pretty impressed by it. Last time I used to have debris spewing out whenever I shut my canister filter for a while but now I don't seem to have that problem anymore, it pretty well covered my entire canister tray and fits in nicely just like stuffing a teddy bear. The filtering and holding capacity are great. Should try !!!

How long will the wool last in the canister? I tried those China brands before and noticed each time I wash my filter ( am lazy....clean it about every 3 months), the wool sort of disintegrated. Have switched to sponge since then.

I got it from east ocean. I think sea view might have them as well. Can call and check

Never tried not washing my canister for 3 months. But the last i did was 1 1/2 mths ago and it was still looking great.
