Hi Bro, Ammonia have to be zero before u put in shrimp. If u don't keep plants, put some floating duckweed to suck up the nitrate

Hi All,
My CRS shrimps have been dying lately after molting (for about 3 weeks). I will see shells on the ground and there will be shrimps with agitated movement (e.g. jumping around frantically, swimming upside down, lying upside down) and after a while or 1 or 2 days they died. (They did molt successfully.)
My water parameters:
GH: 6
KH: 2
pH: 6.6
Nitrate: 20ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
TDS: 160
Ammonia: 0.25
Tank temp: 25c
15% water change every 3 days and using prime seachem for treatment of water. Water changed using 1/3 aged tap water and 2/3 distilled water.
I have put in active carbon in my filter for a few days now but it doesn't seems to work too. CRS shrimps are still dying.
Tank setup-ed about 5 weeks ago.
I'm unable to figure out the problem. Can any experts advise? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for reply. So it could be an ammonia problem? I have some plants in the tank and floating hornwarts. Other shrimps that are not molting looks fine in the tank.
Obvious your tank water is not properly cycled yet. Ammonia, nitrite or even nitrates must be kept at 0 at times. you can do now, is to monitor the reading daily. Probably need to do small amount of water everyday to flush out the toxic.
keep your TDS at 120 - 130 max... Put plants like moss etc... dont water change daily as you frighten the shrimp.. They r very sensitive... water change once a month if the water is not dirty
