just started a tank with several water plants picked at random,

am using a normal filter, disposable co2, air pump and shrimp soil..

2 weeks now, my betta seems happy..

    but...

plants seem to have dirt on their leaves ??? have no clue why
and some are rotting as well...

will putting a sucker fish help?

any suggestions? as i am inexperienced with water plants.

    thank u!

It's probably diatoms on the leaves, which is fairly common in new tanks. The rotting could be due to the plants getting used to the water in your tank, which is called melting, and should grow back. Tank is too small for an type of "suckered fish", and bettas are best kept by themselves.

By Disposable co2, do you mean liquid carbon?

    thx bro for you input...

how about cory fish? are they suitable with betta? because i read that some live stocks that live on the bed are suitable as bettas are often above

most of the plants in my tank don't require co2 actually - quote from the plant master in pasir ris haha

im using the disposable can from tropica - system 60 (just for fun) haha

Hi there JermSeah! Actually, you only need CO2 if you are having CO2 needy plants like Monte Carlo or other types of carpet plants. You should not use CO2 now because CO2 will cause algae to bloom so what you have seen on your leaves which resemble "dirt" may actually be algae growing on the surface of your leaves.
Does this make sense: ~Imperfect Past equals future tense~
