Hi guys, recently purchased ANS I-Flo 10mm outlet.

I don't think it's performing as per what's expected from a lily pipe outlet right?

Using Boyu EF05, flow rate 150l/hr.. So far only managed to find this canister with both inlet and outlet using 9mm hose.

You mean the lily outlet pipe needs higher flow rate than that?

Lets put it this way with a 150l /h canister.

150l/60min / 60 secs = Optimal flow without head lost or the media "blocking" will be 41 ml a secs.

Probably not enough flow rate to see the lily pipe effect, but on the other hand i have never used this before so whether or not if higher flow rate this lily pipe works properly is another question

Thats one of the problems with those ANS lily pipes, some of them are not made properly so the lily pipe outflow is pointed downwards (like in your video), which is wrong. Thats why the water is just spilling downwards and not flowing with the lip and across the water surface.

The correct lily pipe outflow shape and angle are supposed to look and work like this example:

    Video from Youtube.

For optimal flow and distribution, i'd suggest that you change your current set to another one with proper lily pipe output flow shape and angle.

I usually have my lily pipe 2/3 submerge. It will create a lot of bubble and surface agitation. Not sure if that is the right way to do it.

There are various ways to use lily pipes... fully submerged positions will minimize surface movement and create the mini vortex effect, that helps to preserve Co2 in the water which benefits plant growth in high-tech tanks.

Positioning the lily pipe partway out of the water will churn the water and increase surface agitation, improving oxygen exchange, good for low tech tanks which are not concerned with preserving Co2.

Some people use both methods by submerging the lily pipe during Co2 injection period, then at night lift the lily pipe up to oxygenate the tank.

I used to have the same outlet from ANS, its their design flaw. Only choice is to bit the bullet and get a better grade lily pipe, can try GUSH brand, been using it without any issue so far.
