Many are looking for an Ista like External Co2 Turbo Reactor that have proven to dissolve Co2 completely without mist or bubble at the outlet. However, Ista's Outlets are all 12/16mm and not able to dissolve higher Co2 bps due to its shorter canister height and therefore not suitable for bigger planted tank.
Sera 1000 Active Reactor is infact the best solution because It have a 16/22mm inlet and outlet so no hose size reducer is necessary to step down from 16/22mm to 12/16mm and its longer canister body to dissolve higher Co2 bps.
However, Sera 1000 seems to be discontinued and its so rare now to even find one off the shelf.
Recently, I bought a Sera Multi Fil 350 and have it converted to a Sera 1000 Active Reactor successfully by scavenging the rotating blades off an Ista turbo reactor that I accidentally broke off the air inlet nipple. Below are a series of photo showing the convention.

Nice! I think this is very workable solution. I'd consider trying this in the future.
Wonder what is the impact on the flow rate?
Not sure, for now until I fully complete the setup when my tank arrive. It seems the parts between Ista and Sera are fully compatible, even the internal shaft and canister body are fully interchangeable.
For me I dont think flow speed is a problem, I am pumping 2400L/hr using a Eheim 1260
Thats a very good DIY modification for systems that use larger canister filters... much better alternative than having to use step-down adaptors on smaller reactor units.
Thanks for sharing!
Yeah UA, maybe now Ista Reactor with broken air inlet nipple have resale value now
