    Basically it's three ingredients:

    Dried Yeast
    Water
    Sugar

Some people add Baking Soda and what-not, supposedly prolonging the lifespan of the mixture ( no experience here ) but I got great results for about two weeks with just the above 3 ingredients.

    for a 1.25l pet bottle,
    1/4 teaspoon of yeast
    2 cups of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (not baking powder)
water filled until about 2" from the neck

control co2 production rate by adjusting the amount of yeast as you go along. enjoy brewing

Yes, it will, if somehow the C02 cannot get out of the bottle ( output clogged up ). Careful there, it's going to be quite a mess, and the stink

had use diy co2 for a couple of years but never had exploding bottles...
even shaking the bottle to get some more co2 out of a depleted mixture.
if you are using a flipper, reactor or airstone, chances of clogged output is almost zero.
don't worry too much, just do it.
worst case, you'll live with 'stale beer' smell for a while.

for my DIY CO2, i use the 1.5ltr pepsi bottle...

i pour in 2 cups of sugar then add water until the top of the label... then shake it till all or most dissolve... then i add in 3/4 to 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda... then shake n dissolve... then put in 3/4 to 1 teaspoon of yeast... now no need to shake liao... the CO2 will bubble into the water in a short time...

as for explosion, i doubt it will ever happen, unless ur tubing is clogged... other than a clogged up tubing, i dun think there can be a build up of Co2 in the bottle to explode it cause if there really is alot of CO2 it will have to bubble into the water n go no where else...

    hope i could help...

    regards

    hi amani,

i also just started my DIY co2,
some setbacks initially cos i htink i added not enough yeast, hence even 1 use 2 bottles, the bubble rate is like 1per 2 sec.

this morning just modified the brew,
    check out is 1bubble/sec good???

1 bubble/sec? May not last long at this rate.
I used one 2L bottle and when stable after one week, it is like 1 bubble/4 sec.
After the 3rd week, the production starts to dwindle.
Maybe you can alternate between preparig new mixture with your 2 bottles?

    HI JUGGLER,

mine is a 3ft tank, so izzit more advisable to use 2 bottles...anyway mine are 1.5l bottles.

    k...seems 1bubble/4sec is more stable.....

2 bottles are good. alternate them every 2 weeks so that each bottle effectively used 1 month. you should get a constant and less disruptive supply of co2 to your plants.

the co2 generated by yeast method is never constant. however, having 2 or more bottles help to reduce the huge variation in rate of co2 generation.
