After trying Aquascaping for 3 months, I really like this new hobby and decided to start a 4ft tank 1 month ago when my wife was on vacation
Today is Day 26

Thank you, I am still propagating the plant and they are still very messy now. The plant light isn't too good for photo taking too, all the colors are washed out.
Anyone have good recommendations for photo taking lights?
Thought I'll share how I do my movable moss on driftwood.
2 main ingredient, dry moss and flexible mesh(not the normal stainless steel mesh) it is easily bent into shape.
The dry moss is super glue to the mess, please note, the super glue used here does not turn white even when submerge in water.
Weeping moss (or any moss) is tied to the mesh with dry moss and bent to hold snugged on the driftwood trunk.
Advantages
- it's movable and transferable to another tank
- it allow moss to be attached easily to the driftwood even after you submerge your driftwood. No more great difficulty to tie moss or plant to driftwood after it is submerge.
Disadvantages
- help me think of one

Hi realcaster, can you share what type of glue you used and where did you buy it from?
Below is the glue I used, I got mine from oversea. Locally, I saw 1 LFS in Clementi is selling it at much higher price which is probably due to the expensive shipping cost.

Thanks. I will go check it out at Clementi next time I am there. Can this be used to glue stuff underwater?
@realcaster Why do you use sphagnum moss as base? Can't you attach the moss directly to the steel mess?
In my previous tank, I did tie directly, but it takes months for the mesh to be covered by the moss. I added sphagnum to the base is to effectively hide the wire mesh so that I do not have to stare at the unsightly mesh until the moss can cover it. The sphagnum moss are basically dried plant which over time will darken and looks closer color to the drift wood.
The sphagnum moss also act as a substrate for nutrients absorption similar to Wabi Kusa. Some of my sphagnum moss have time-release solid fertilizer buried under it to encourage root growth. So effectively you can now attach small plants to driftwood.

@realcaster thanks for the reply. I'll consider trying this next time. Btw where did you get the sphagnum moss? Have you noticed any effect it has on the water parameters? E.g. Lowers the ph maybe?
I got the sphagnum moss from Far East florist. As for PH or other parameters fluctuations, I did not notice any, it's only a little bit in my 300 litre tank
Had the privilege of seeing it physically. Great layout!

"sphagnum moss" something new to me. Thank you for sharing.
Is it the thank with uptake rate of 1.5ppm PO4 per day?
Yes, this is the tank
wow....very nice scape indeed....nice blend of colours and excellent usage of the rocks for your scape
Recently, I discovered beneath my thick Rotala Acruata and Rotala Brevipes background plant, there are BBA. Even when the canister which is using an Ehiem 1260, 2400L/H flow rate, there are still dead spots in the tank.
Especially, beneath the thick and nicely sculpted background plants, the water flow is not getting there. Since the water is dead still, CO2 and Nutrient is depriving the leaves & stems and those becames the hotbeds for Algae
While hunting for a wave maker and solo small pumps, non seems to fit my application and the wave maker are not cheap and most are too strong and tosses my fishes around and my stem plants are swaying like coconut trees by the beach.
I found this small elbow attachment that allow me to attach to a mini Dolphin pump 250L/H. This elbow attachment allow me to fit onto the pump and adjust the firing angle. By attaching the elbow , I can suction fix the Pumps on the tank wall above the dead spot and fire directly down. Without this attachment, I would need to buy a bigger pump to fire across the tank and mess up the water flow of the tank while tossing the fishes in the process.
Total damage $4pump + $1.5elbow=$5.50.
I bought it at Seaview.
