    Hi guys,

Have noticed recently that killifishes are being sold this way for up to 3 days.

Whilst it's nothing uncommon in foreign markets like Hong Kong, where they change the water in the bag everyday. This is certainly something new for me.

Do you think it's better that the killifishes are being "packaged" this way for retail?

Those in my tank certain seem to survive the ordeal.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Those bags are torture chambers for these farm-bred killifish. A day in the bag is not too bad but 3 days is too much. Imagine swimming in your own urine and shit. Thats what the fish are feeling.

I wonder what these suppliers are doing. The welfare of the fish is of no concern to them as long as the dollars roll in.

By the way, the Notho in the first bag is Nothobranchius fuscotaeniatus. One of the most beautiful but fragile species from the Notho group.
    Fish.. Simply Irresistable
    Back to Killies... slowly.

It's a very cruel thing to do, to such a beautiful fish. It's probably very very stressful inside a "balloon". What other suppliers do their stocks is no good excuse to defend the usage of such packaging.
    Cheers,
