Simon,
I think the fish pictured is the eye-spot rasbora (Rasbora dorsiocellata), not the lamp-eye popularly used in planted tanks, which belongs to the killiefish family.
marc, think the lamp eye oso from the killi family too rite?
ya, i mean the lamp-eye is from the killie family, not the rasbora.
Under ideal conditions, both species have luminiscent blue-green eyes, but the rasbora is hardier by far.
oops..read wrongly... do they look alike?
easiest way to differentiate is: the rasbora has a black spot on the dorsal fin. The lamp-eye has a plain dorsal fin, as well as a longer anal fin and unforked tail.
