    Re: Please help ,tank glass

Put the tank in an area with daylight or bright white light, then you should be able to see its true glass color and clarity.

For reference, you can check out a thread i posted a while back comparing the 2 types of tank glass side-by-side:

    http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...mal-Glass-Tank

    Hope that helps.

Thanks to all SHIFU. The shop owner just came to my house last night and he also confirmed and verified that the front panel is LOW IRON HIGH CLARITY GLASS .

    Re: Please help ,tank glass

So only the front glass is crystal glass? The other sides are all normal glass?

In that case, it probably explains why the front panel edges look abit greenish too, because the green tint from the other normal glass sides shine through into the otherwise clear crystal glass. Its color tint can be influenced by the other colors around it.

    Re: Please help ,tank glass

So the question now is whether you specify wanting a low iron high clarity tank or just part of the tank using only low iron high clarity glass pane ?

How much did you paid for it ?

What is the tank size ?

    Re: Please help ,tank glass

I requested to make a tank size of 90x40x40cm.10 mm thick with a small partition at right corner(30x10cm).normal glass at$270 and he recomment to have a crystal glass front panel for better viewing with a top up $100. so i agree. Its only that i thought crystal glass only have white tinted as i"m new to this hobby and this is my first big tank.

    Re: Please help ,tank glass

It looks like crystal glass to me. Like bro UA said, the green tint is likely come frm the normal glass.
I have one ada crystal glass tank and it has some green tint too, though not the deep green tint found on the normal glass. Also, i have another crystal glass tank bought frm GC, and it more towards bluish color. So, crystal glass do have different 'color', most likely due to the glass content during manufacturing process.

    Re: Please help ,tank glass

Ro/do water is mostly for keeping crystal red shrimp, as the water should have close to zero mineral content. Then one could adjust mineral content by topping up minerals to reach the desire level.
But if you not going to keep crs, then most likely no need to use ro/do water, as many of the fishes and some shrimp species (like yamato shrimp and cherry shrimp) are more hardy that can still live in the normal tap water (of course dechlorinated).

You can actually just test it out. Put the rocks in a bucket of water, then test the pH, GH and TDS.... let them soak for a few days to a week, then test the bucket water parameters again, see if there are any noticeable differences.

In this way, you can know beforehand whether the rocks will alter your tank's water parameters, so you can manage it. Better than only finding out what happens a few weeks later after everything is setup.

There is actually a wide range of prices for lily pipes... can be as low as $30+ for a set (if order from online) up to $400+ for a set of the original ADA lily pipes. There are lots of different prices for different brands with various grades of workmanship and quality in-between.

The standard lily pipe outflow shape is designed to generate a wider spread-out flow pattern, and for most people it's mainly the transparent glass look that they are going for. It's aesthetically much nicer than the stock green or black plastic pipes that are packaged with most canister filters.

If you are into aquascaping, i guess the last thing you'd want to see is green pipes in the tank distracting from the nice plant layout.

Alternatively, you could also buy the Eheim plastic lily pipe shape output add-on kit (aka Eheim flow pipe kit) which can be attached to the stock plastic pipes too, but you'll still see the green pipes.

So whether it's worth buying glass lily pipes will depend mainly on how much you value the aesthetics of your in-tank filter equipment.
