Don't worry too much about ph level in planted aquarium.

Generally You could grow them between 5-8

pH isn't particularly important... if you want to measure things; measure your GH/KH, nutrient levels perhaps

There are basic test kits for ammonia, nitrite and nitrates... along with other additional test kits for phosphate, potassium, iron etc etc (check the API range of test kits). Depends on how extensively you want to monitor all those nutrient parameters.
