Hi guys, just showcasing some of my 2feet lateral setups that i've in my collection at home.

    A side view of it.

Lighting for this particular setup is just by a 13W halogen lamp. Reason for choosing such a lighting option was to give it that warmth feeling as well as to highlight the main focal as in this case the red bromeliad and also to give some shadows in certain areas. Overall effect is a visual perception of a deep jungle illuminated by the sunset.

    Regards,
    Phillip.

Plants such as the Boston fern, and Anubias Coffeelia dominates this setup. As i needed a strong colour focal point to bring the viewers' eyes rather than using size as a focal option, i've opted for the vibrant red hue of the bromeliad as seen in the setup.

The background is made up of black rocky styrofoam board and this is used also for the terraces on the base floor.

Dried roots and long dried vines are used on the right hand bottom side to accent that natural overgrown look.

    Regards,
    Phillip.

    That's very nice.

I didn't realise it's a standard 2ft tank on its side until I looked closer. How do you keep the attached plants from falling out? And how do you keep it moist?

They're adhered to the back with toothpicks. Moisture is never a problem as it has it's own acrylic door to keep e moisture in. In this setup, i mist it every 2 days to maintain the high moisture levels in it esp for the anubias coffeelia.

    Phillip.

Swee! I think this is my favourite, in terms of space saving. Would love to have one of this in my home.
How long was this set-up? I believe you had the tank custom made... or is it a noraml 2ft on its side?

That setup is around 5mths old. It's a normal 2ft on it's side. Just exploiting the full advantage of a normal statistics of a normal 2ft tank and working around that rather than having one custom made.

    Phillip.

Phillip, I think you better do a workshop soon. But it looks like the mods will snap up the places before we can even announce it.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Thanks! But that tank is nothing compared to Phillip's creations.
