Get the dwarf puffer. It cleared my tank of snails in 2 weeks. But it'll turn turn nasty and nip the tail of your fishes once it depleted its food source.

Snails don't scratch glass by themselves... first, they don't drag their shells around. Second they aren't that strong to scratch glass with their shells. Unless you're talking about them scratching the glass because they get caught between the glass and your cleaning tool when you clean the glass...

Anyway, dwarf puffers are not that hard to find. You can also consider getting loaches. Search the forum for "snails" and you should find lots of threads about getting rid of snails.

Control the algae and you will also reduce the snail population.

Note: always try to search the forum for the answers to your questions first. You might just find the answer you want instead of waiting for a reply.

Well to be fair, snails dont scratch the glass... it's probably something else. And they actually keep the algae at bay. But if you really wanna get rid of them... just pick them out. They lay eggs on the glass/filter that look like little blobs of jelly with tiny white dots in them. Just scrape those off when you find them. If you're looking for a less labour intensive meathod... try yabbies/crayfish/blue lobsters

The fact is they don't. Probably you did (or whoever cleans the tank).
How do you normally clean the front glass?

Just to add on, dwarf puffers are not that hard to find. They are gaining popularity because of their snail eating habits. The more popular fish shops are almost certain to have them in stock.

i've had many snails in my tank n really, they dun scratch the glass... i guess there might be some gravel stuck on ur magnetic cleaner then that scratched the glass... puffers do eat other small fish which fit their mouth but they r really gd at clearing out the snails... another way to clear the snails will be to pick them out on ur own whenever u c them...

    regards

Another fish to consider to clear your snail problem is trying to use the Badis Badis. ( Not the scarlet badis)

    Ahkarboy,

Try searching the forum and the internet for badis badis first, instead of asking others to do it for you. If people have ready pictures, they will share them naturally.

Vinz, you really made it sound funny. I'd love to see a snail dragging its shell. As a matter of fact, I don't think there are living things that we keep in our tanks, that are capable of scatching glass walls. Glass can be very very tough.
    Cheers,
    Andrew
