    Thanks Beryo.

I have email them to ask for the password and account name.
Hope to get by tomorrow night so as I can try to play around with the features.
I do not really need high end features, just basic to have 3D drawing will do.

    Regards,
    Izzat

Like I mentioned in the other thread, 3-D drawing has got 2 major industry competitors. Autocad and solidworks. Engineering industry at present uses Autocad but the future is with Solidworks by Seacam. It is a very very powerful software, academic institutions are now pushing for its use at present.

    Cool. Both are license softwares
Hmmm, will be getting my laptop that I ordered for Poly.
Will see what drawing software comes with it.

Hope it's either Autocad or Solidworks as if I need help, more helping hands are experience with the 2 softwares

I'm not too sure if the Poly will be installing any drawing software into the notebook which I had pre-ordered last week.
So I will have to see if there is any drawing software install in the notebook once I get it in about 1 weeks time.

    Izzat

most likely Autocad then. When you know the actual price for the s/w, u will think otherwise .. but then, there is always the academic verison

    S/W more expensive than AutoCAD?

Yeap, I think the software installed should be something like a "Student" version.
But I think it should be good enough for me

most likely it's only available in the lab you use for that module only... software comes together with the laptop u bought will most likely with Officeware, some editing tool and something cheap and that's it. Licence is not cheap even it's educational... which stated in the licencing it's Only for teaching only....

    Noooooooo

I hope it would be there permamently although the functions might not be what I have if I own the Original one.
It's because for all 3 years of study there, I will still have to do CAD drawing every semester

Hey bro, the software that you had recommended me "Gray tech" was good.
But there is always a window prompting me to insert figures or something with drives me

Good that it's useful to u!! That's becos they wants u to buy the paid version. Something like 'pop-up' windows when surfing web... it's free! can't help it. or unless u get the trial-version of autocad which lasts u 30 days.

    LOL!

The pop-up window they wrote is "No Entities were found which meet the selection criteria. One of the entity types listed in the select message on the status bar must be present and selectable. Select ok to continue"

How to solve this? I sometimes can get away with this Pop-up warning window

    Hi Simon,

3-4K is too expensive for me to buy for my own usage.
Not going to use it permamently unless NP buy it for us

    Hmm... never has that...

My guess is it has something to do with the list of selection mode when u select on the object or line. If it still don help u, let mi try to build the error over at my machine tonite n c whether it's true.

Highly unlikely that NP will install for you guys. Vendors in Singapore at most only allow a few dozen academic licences and they are on semester basis. NUS only has got around 30 full licences of SW, students who use SW on laptops will see their academic license expire after the semester. Hence, I believe your sch won't trouble themselves with all these license things. I can almost guarantee you that. Better to load yourself with the alternative from BM.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

Okie. Maybe I need to adjust some settings?

    Andrew,
    What is BM?

See how it goes for the software
