How long did it took to reach this stage ?
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Re: MarLe's Soiless Low Maintainence Planted Tank

I believe is good for cherry shrimp, Yamato etc.

For Crystal red shrimp related species I do not think so.

PH for the tank should be the same as tap water as there is nothing to buffer..

Lights seems too powerful for low tech. Would be nice if can dim. How many LEDs?

LED chips : RGB-W, Samsung LED, Nichia LED
    Color Temperature : 7050K
    Lenght : 60cm
    Lumen : 2400 lm
    Power : 33 watts
    Size : 600mm x 117 x 111
    Glass thickness : 6mm, 8mm

i am not able to see exactly how many LEDs.. Can only tell they have different colors of LED. That is the spec of the ES600?

Re: MarLe's Soiless Low Maintainence Planted Tank

My priority is the plant health. Current concoction of fertilizers has triggered some new growth of plants and is showing on the trident fern. The leaves are "fatter" now. One of my biggest challenges is tank temperature. These days its at 29 degrees.

By right i should be trimming the older leaves..maybe the weekend ahead.

    H.Pinnafita leaves age pretty fast.

You can see the older and newer leaves here

I like the "jungle" look, it gives a very calming feel. Great works!

The twinstar is a high intensity light. Seems for a 20G, PAR reading from a depth of 17cm is close to 100. 5 months and no algae shows the benefit of using inert substrate such as sand.

Re: MarLe's Soiless Low Maintainence Planted Tank

Marle you're an inspiration! Do you have any pictures that show just the hardscape? Or when you just planted?

No matter the power of the lights, he must have found the correct balance of light co2 and nutrients. His water change frequency too

And where to get the twinstar?

    Cheers

Surprisingly, because there is flow in the aquarium, the poop gets swept away, the obvious parts of the tank do not show visible poop.

Yes i definitely like the perks of using inert substrate. Not sure about the PAR value of this twinstar light. How did you get these values?
