It is not aquatic. It is a bog plant. Like so many other plants in the trade that is sold to us as "Aquatic plants" it will hang on underwater, but will eventually die doesn't matter if you have CO2 or not.
Does anyone have experience with Trichomanes javanicum, a member of the filmy fern family? It looks like a skinnier version of Bolbitis and occupies a similar habitat niche.
I got mine from Bangkok in January and they pretty much act like plastic plants in water, but dry up pretty quickly when exposed to air. Unlike Bolbitis, the roots are long and straight, so the plant doesn't fit well being tied to driftwood.
Jacian told me before that the fern had lasted for a while in his tanks before it deteriorated. I am now keeping one batch in a darkish storage pail and another in my 3 feet planted tank. It seems to be more a terrarium plant, but does anyone have info on how it does in a tank with CO2 injection?
