Hi gurus, just visited C328 and saw this tank of Koi look fishes (red & white). What fish is this? Is this live bearer and Koi platy? Or these are female koi sword tail?

I think it's most likely a swordtail, but I am not particularly confident in ID'ing them either. Is there actually koi platy though, because in my little experience I have only seen guppies and swords having such colouration.

I also notice that there are no male in the tank if they are platy. Base on the size if they are swordtail fish, then they are draft or very young.

Are they expensive? If not too expensive, I may go down and get a few for myself.

Not very sure. As uncle is so busy and I don't have the chance to ask. From the price written on the tank. Is $7, $1.2 or... don't know.

Re: Hi to identify this fish.

If 2 bucks, it is rather expensive for a platy, but these are rare platys, so that's, understandable.

I enjoy buying packets of mixed platys. Each $2 packet contains about a dozen platys and I have so much fun with so many platys, except that the bioload is quite high in my small 2ft tank. A 4ft or 5ft tank is more suitable for a mixed platy tank, since they also propagate rather easily.

They are quite hyper active once they are in your tank

Is it because these swordtail are still young and haven't show their gender yet. I read from Internet that swordtail male will form in their later state as they grow. Is this true ah?
