Difference between a Shrimp and a Prawn

Remember when you bought yr first batch of shrimps home and placed them into your tank and your little one goes:

Baby kid: Daddy, so cute.... PRAWNS...!!!!!!!

Dad: No son, they are shrimps....!!!!

Baby kid: Daddy, why are they not called prawns....???

Dad: errrrr....... (long pause).... cos prawns are those big ones that we put on the table during meal... these are for keeping in aquariums and we do not eat them, so they are called shrimps....

Fact??? or Fake???

With the popularity of shrimp keeping on a rapid increase, maybe this article could help in differentiating between a shrimp to the prawn. Can also learn alot more on the biology of this little creature.

Very informative article, before that I always thought shrimps is smaller than Prawns and incidentially I have the same discussion with my son too....not prawns it's shrimps..
